Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2, 2026
By using Clipcroft ("the service", "we", "our"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. What the Service Does
Clipcroft is a real-time shared clipboard that lets you transfer text and files between devices using a shared clipboard ID. No account is required. The service is provided free of charge, subject to the limitations described below.
2. Ephemeral Nature of Data
Clipcroft is not a storage service. All clipboard content exists only in the browsers of connected devices:
- The text and links you paste, along with the name and size of each file, are stored in your browser's localStorage, which the browser may clear at any time. Clipcroft also removes content older than a retention period — 7 days by default, configurable in Settings.
- Files are stored in your browser's IndexedDB storage and are not backed up anywhere.
- Our servers hold no clipboard content and cannot recover lost data.
Do not rely on Clipcroft as a backup or archive. We make no guarantee that any content will be available after you close your browser.
3. Clipboard ID Security
Anyone who knows a clipboard ID can join that clipboard and read any content that is not password-protected. For sensitive material, set a password when you create the clipboard — its contents are then end-to-end encrypted in your browser, and anyone who joins without the password cannot read them. Because the key is derived from your password and never leaves your device, we cannot reset the password or recover the content if you lose it. If you choose not to set a password, you are responsible for keeping the clipboard ID confidential. In all cases you share content at your own risk.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the service to:
- Transfer, store, or share any content that is illegal in your jurisdiction or the jurisdiction of the service.
- Distribute malware, viruses, or any other harmful code.
- Harass, threaten, or harm any person.
- Infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or compromise the availability of the service for other users.
- Automate access to the service in a way that generates disproportionate load (scraping, flooding, etc.).
5. No Warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data will be delivered or preserved.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Clipcroft and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of business, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.
Our total liability for any claim arising from use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which, because the service is free, is zero).
7. Your Content
You retain ownership of all content you send through Clipcroft. By using the service you grant us a limited, transient licence to relay your content to the devices connected to your clipboard solely for the purpose of delivering the service. We do not claim any rights over your content.
8. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the service for any user or device that violates these terms or engages in abusive behaviour, without notice.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Spain.
